Considering the adult flea only makes up 5 % of the flea population there is an opportunity to treat the 95% of the lifecycle found in your yard. Understanding the entire flea life cycle is the key to controlling a flea infestation.
The best strategy is to attack the problem simultaneously on three fronts: indoors, outdoors and on your pets. Use Nemassist® nematodes for the outdoor component. Benefical nematodes break the flea life cycle by killing pre-adult fleas in lawns, pet run areas and the soil.
The nematode is naturally occurring and mass reared.
For flea control of larvae and pupae we recommend Steinernema carpocapsae. These natural flea predators won’t harm people, pets, plants or beneficial insects.
Apply at a rate of 35 Million nematodes per 75 to 150 m2.
As a preventative, apply nematodes a single application Spring and again late Summer/Autumn at a rate of 35 million nematodes per 150 m2. As a curative use a heavier dose of 35 million per 75m2 any time of the year as curative when adult fleas are active.
Soil temperature should be above 12C at the time of application for nematodes to be active.
Apply by watering can, pump sprayer or knap sack after removing any fine filters. (< 0.5 mm). They can also be applied with some brands of hose end sprayers.
